The Gift Bearers are members of the congregation who present the gifts of bread, wine and financial offerings at the mass.  Any member of the congregation is welcome to volunteer to bring the gifts to the altar or an usher will likely ask a family to present the gifts.  A small crucifix sits on the table where the gifts are prepared and this crucifix is used to designate Gift Bearers.   They keep the crucifix with them in the pew and then place it back on the table when they go there to present the gifts.
