This year we are using new books and they are in conformity with the USCCB.
The Ad Hoc Committee to Oversee the Use of the Catechism, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has found this catechetical text [The Faith and Life Series] to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- Pre K and K are using Image of God which is a Catholic curriculum for children 3 years old through kindergarten with the text/workbooks for each pre-school level that presents the faith in a lively, colorful manner with state of the art graphics. The series is founded on two unifying key truths: God and creation and stresses the dignity of each child made in God's image, presents the faith in terms and activities children understand and each lesson includes Bible stories, "Concepts of Faith", home activities and fun workshops.
- Grades 1 - 8 are using Faith and Life with texts and activities fully adapted to the new translation of the Roman Missal to be implemented in Advent 2011. The Faith and Life Third Edition series presents Catholic teaching using the time-tested ecclesial methodology and spiral development of catechesis, in a beautiful, student-friendly, comprehensive format. In depth information per grade can be found here.
- Grade 9 will be utilizing Our Moral Life in Christ which presents morality with particular emphasis on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Veritatis Splendor. The accompanying Student Workbook allows the student to engage the moral law through compelling and meaningful exercises by using combinations of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and short answer questions, the students recall and apply concepts from the textbook to their own lives. More information can be found here.
- Senior High are using Introduction to Catholicismis a senior high, complete course in the Catholic faith designed to give a more in depth catechesis to supplement and expound on the material provided to the lower grades. A workbook is also supplied which accompanies the text. For more information about this text click here.
